Report by Robert Johns – Mid North Coast 2017 AGM Representative
On the weekend of the 21st to 23rd November I represented our branch and surrounding branches at a promotion
of Tasmania and the 2016 AGM to be held in Launceston.
The promotion was organised by Fiona Sturman who is a sales representative of the Spirit of
Tasmania TT Shipping Line and Mike Meyman the Director of the 2016 AGM Event in Launceston.
There were twelve participants from various branches across our country. Five branches from
NSW were represented, Canberra had one, South Australia had three and also Mike and Fiona.
The aim of the promotion was to familiarise our group with the workings of the TT Line and see the
2016 AGM site.
We were certainly given a high speed tour of the area. The tour took in an overnight trip each way
on the Spirit of Tasmania between Melbourne and Devonport. On arrival we visited a raspberry
farm for breakfast then followed by the local markets – the 2016 AGM site in Launceston –
Tourist Information Centre – Boags Brewery – Peppers Resort then overnight stay at the Chancellor Hotel dinner at Richardsons Harley Davidson complex
which had a dealership, workshop, museum and bistro all combined. The next day took in a cruise up Cataract
Gorge, Chocolate factory and a visit to an Apple Cider manufacturer as well as
taking in the local scenery while on the mini tour bus.
The company and friendships formed over the weekend was in the true Ulysses spirit. TT cruises
could not do enough for us with accommodation and food all being first class.
NOW TO THE IMPORTANT PART
In return Fiona is coming to our area in February 2015 to further this promotion and has left it to me
to encourage our branch and neighbouring branch members to participate in this promotion.
The date is Saturday 28th February at 11.00 am at the Kendall Service Club.
The highlight of the weekend was meeting new people and forming good friendships.
See you at the promotion
